Data Protection Statement

This statement covers the services provided by DFB Housing Solutions and relates to the personal information you have given to us and to any other personal information which you give to DFB Housing Solutions or which DFB Housing Solutions may collect and hold, whether or not you become a customer of DFB Housing Solutions. In this statement DFB refers to DFB Housing Solutions.

How we protect your privacy

Any personal information you provide to DFB will be held by DFB in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and in accordance with our Data Protection Policy. Accordingly, your personal information will only be held and processed in connection with your Sale and Rent Back application and, if your application is successful, in connection with our relationship with you as our customer. DFB will keep your information only for as long as is necessary for these purposes and as required by law, regulation or best practice and will put in place appropriate measures to ensure that your information is held and processed securely and confidentially.

How we use the information

DFB may use your information for the purposes of determining whether or not you are eligible to become a customer of DFB. In particular, you understand and agree that we may carry out a credit assessment, which may include credit scoring, in connection with your application for our Sale and Rent Back service. We may search the files of credit reference agencies, which will keep a record of each search, and make any other enquiries relating to you which we consider necessary for the purposes of properly considering your application. This may include enquiries of another financial institution.

Where your application is made jointly with another person, we may make an association between you and such other named person at the credit reference agency which will mean that your financial records become linked for all future applications by either or both of you. If a link already exists between your financial records and those of another person, your application for our Sale and Rent Back service will be assessed with reference to these linked records. This situation will continue until one of you files a disassociation at the credit reference agency. DFB may also check your details with fraud prevention agencies and may make searches at credit reference agencies who will supply DFB with information, including information from the electoral register for the purpose of verifying your identity.

Scoring methods may be used to verify your identity and the credit reference agencies will record details of the search whether or not your application for Sale and Rent Back proceeds. Please note, however, that this is not a credit check and will not be seen or used by lenders to assess your ability to obtain credit if you give false of inaccurate information though and fraud is suspected, DFB will record this.

Information sharing

DFB may give essential information about you to others, associated companies and business partners, where this is necessary for the purposes of our relationship with you. In addition, your information may be shared with other organisations acting as agent for DFB. Any information about you that we pass to another person or organisation will be sent on the understanding that it will be held confidentially and held securely by that party in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. DFB and other organisations may use your personal information and make searches at credit reference agencies to make decisions relating to credit and credit related services and insurance, including motor, household, credit, life and other insurance proposals and claims for you and, where relevant, members of your household. We may use your personal information to trace debtors, recover debt, prevent money laundering and fraud and manage your accounts. In addition, we may use your personal information for statistical purposes. We may disclose your personal information to regulatory bodies and other similar organisations so that they can check DFB's compliance with regulatory requirements and any applicable voluntary codes of practice. If your application to DFB for a Sale and Rent Back arrangement is unsuccessful, DFB may pass your information to others who may use it to offer you alternative or similar products or services. Again, your information may only be sent to others on the understanding that they will keep the information confidential and secure in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
